Things to Consider

It is important to note that as an artist, you can usually get a lot more creative when painting faces of adults. First and foremost, it is because the skin of an adult is usually less sensitive than that of a child and you get to experiment a lot more with the paints, glitters and other materials you can use to create a masterpiece on someone’s face. Also, while you are to some extent limited on what and how much of a child’s face you can paint, it’s easier with adults as they get to define their own limits, or not set any boundaries at all and allow you to unleash your imagination! Add a couple of small details to liven up make up or make a full-on facial transformation from a human to a tiger, it is completely up to you! Adults also can show off much more skin, so you can incorporate the skin on someone’s back or cleavage area to make an even more impressive painting.

Types

Some ideas to start you off:

  • Full face coverage. Those are usually super fun as sometimes you might not even be able to recognize the person underneath the painting! Such kind of face painting is very popular among many performers, probably the most notably – clowns. Such type of face paintings is also very popular during the Halloween period, as many want to transform themselves into zombies, skeletons or other non-human creatures. Be aware that such task might involve not only face painting but also a little face sculpting – it would be cool to create a wound for a zombie that has not only the looks but also the texture to it!
  • Partial face coverage. Something along these lines can be used to integrate adults better into children’s parties and make them more approachable companions for the little ones. Use your skill and turn someone’s nose and cheeks into a small cat’s face and watch all the kids around scream with joy when they realize the person supervising their party is not someone’s dad but rather Tom from the famous “Tom and Jerry” series!
  • Accents. Throwing a future-themed party for your friends? Going to a huge party where you expect to find brightly dressed people and neon lights? Consider adding a nice touch to your thoughtfully put together outfit and decorate your face with a few elegant lines of glitter or turn your simple eye shadow into a more elaborate and creative accent! It is highly popular these days to make facial décor more elaborate by adding gems and jewels, especially when the event in mind is a music festival.
